On May 18, the second load of our food baskets was delivered to 50 families. Once again, families with once or more members with a disability were supported. For the delivery we could once again count on the support of the association "Aceptando nuestro destino" (Accepting Our Destiny), which helped us to locate the families in need and to bring the food baskets to the right people.

The video gives you an overview of what products were in the bag for this occasion. The smoked fish was left out this time an was replaced by several kilograms of fresh vegetables (tomatoes, onions, potatoes, chayote fruit, chilli, garlic and a huge kale). The vegetables were purchased from the local greengrocer "Hermanos Lucas", who gave us a generous discount. We would like to thank the owners very much for this!

Mangos and bananas were also purchased from local producers at a very reasonable price. Also producers of the Organic Market of Huatulco were again considered. Tostadas, coffee, hibiscus flowers, honey, pumpkin seeds and organic bars were purchased through them. The other products (beans, rice, pasta, oil, lentils, soap and chlorine) were purchased from smaller local supermarkets.

We were especially pleased that we were able to include bread in each bag for this delivery. On the first delivery two weeks before, we came across a family in which a mother has to maintain her three daughters (all of them handicapped). She earns her modest living by baking bread, which she then sells to the local population. Of course we took this opportunity to expand our local purchase and ordered 200 bread rolls from her for delivery!

During our conversation with the association "Aceptando nuestro destino" we also became aware that many of these families do not receive any support from the government, which would actually correspond them. We are now in the process of clarifying the reasons for this and would like to help the families to fight for this government aid.
