Third round of food bags delivered succesfully
On June 9, #SolidaridaHuatulco made the third delivery of food bags. Almost 60 families of people with disabilities received support. In order to ensure that as many families as possible benefited from our support, families who did not receive anything in the first two deliveries were considered.
The bags were again filled to the brim. This time the following products were included:
2 kg of rice
1 kg of beans
1 litre of oil
1 package of lentils
1 soap for clothes
1 bottle of chlorine
1 package of organic tostadas
1 package of organic coffee
1 bag of hibiscus flowers
1 jar of honey
1 bag of sea salt
1 bag of pumpkin seeds
1 kg nopales
4 pieces of sweet bread
5 bananas
4 pieces of corn
1 kg of tomatoes
1 kg of onions
1 kg of potatoes
250 g jalapeño chillies
1 kg of chayote fruits
1 kg of carrots
1 garlic
Each bag was worth about 350 pesos. In addition, some families received diapers and hygiene products for women. As in previous deliveries, we received some products donated by the local population. We would like to thank Elena & Bill, Christine King and the team of the Food Bank of Huatulco, which also supports numerous aid projects in the region. For the project group, this third delivery had a cost of about 17'600 Pesos.
With this delivery we have completed the food bag delivery phase. In total, almost 160 families were supported with food. Solidaridad Huatulco contributed almost 50'000 Pesos for these three deliveries. For each delivery, the members of the project group were on the road for 2-3 days. It was a great experience for us and gave us the opportunity to meet many people.
The gratitude of the families was enormous and it was beautiful to see the radiant faces of the people when we delivered the bags of food to them. The project group will continue to try to support the affected people with the funds available.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again convey this gratitude to our many sponsors, locally and abroad. Without you all, this would not have been possible. The fact that the delivery of food bags has been completed in this first stage does not mean that the project of Solidaridad Huatulco will stop its work. At the beginning of June we started to financially support two community kitchens, which provide free meals to hundreds of people every day. So whoever wants to continue supporting us financially, the crisis continues and we won't be running out of projects for a long time to come. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your great support for the most affected people in Huatulco!
